Obituary for David J. Kuebel

David was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022. He was born on August 19th, 1961 in Jamaica, NY to John and Patricia Kuebel. He is survived by his parents, his brother, James Edward and his sister, Ann Margaret. He is also survived by his uncle, Robert Kuebel and his aunts, Sandra Kuebel and Judith Nolan; many cousins, friends and associate teachers.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Nicholas and Olga Naviry, Mathias and Gertrude Kuebel; his uncle, Bernard Kuebel; uncle and aunt, Michael and Mary Teresa Bonanno.

David was a kind, gentle man who always saw goodness in everyone. He was a perpetual scholar always seeking exact knowledge of an array of diverse subjects. He was a graduate of St. Salome's School ('75), McQuaid Jesuit High School ('79) where he was first in his class all 8 semesters, St. John Fisher College ('83) (Summa cum Laude). He was awarded his PhD in physics from the University of Chicago ('91). He did his doctoral thesis research in particle physics at the Argonne National Laboratory. He worked with Dr. Emil Wolf at the University of Rochester in optics research for the Department of the Navy.

David was a physics and astronomy professor at St. John Fisher College. He loved his students and was always willing to give of his time and knowledge to them. He especially loved preparing his students for graduate studies and then writing letters of recommendation for them. David had so many interests. He loved his Catholic Faith, books, classical music, science, mathematics, astronomy, chess, old classic movies, Columbo TV series, the Cleveland Browns and Ukrainian cuisine.

He was a wonderful caring son and brother. He enriched our lives in so many ways. David will be eternally remembered in our hearts, minds and prayers.

David's Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday, January 29th 10am at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
