Obituary for Gerald R. "Jerry" Scardino

Rochester: Passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2022 at age 88. The son of Phillip and Mary (Latona) Scardino, Jerry was a lifelong resident of Rochester, where he raised his family and established his business. He owned and operated Scardino Painting and Decorating for decades and was himself, a master at his craft. Jerry was a family man who loved cooking and nothing more than enjoying meals together. He attended the University of Georgia and played football for the Bulldogs. Jerry had lifelong love of thoroughbred horse racing and enjoyed the Saratoga Race Course every summer.

He is survived by his children Jeddie Scardino (Lloyd Laub), Lorrie Scardino (William Aherne), Mary Scardino, Emma Ricci, Gerald F. Scardino and Andrea Burke, stepson James (Tracy) Walton, his sister, Marie Herman and sister-in-law, Caroline Scardino. Jerry has nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Marcia (Kuppinger) Scardino, and brothers, Virgil, Leonard, Phillip and William Scardino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at Blessed Sacrament Church, 59 Rutgers St. Rochester on September 14 at 10AM. A graveside service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and a reception for family and friends will follow.
