Obituary for Lucy H "Lu" Eygabroad

Lucy “Lu” Eygabroad, Webster, NY - Passed peacefully on December 21 at age 92. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles “Chuck”. She is survived by her children, Rita (Dave) Garretson, Cyndi Eygabroad and Ron (Jane) Eygabroad; her brother Jim (Audrey) Spallina, sister-in-law Phyllis Eygabroad, brother-in-law Dick Barnes, many nephews and nieces, and other loved ones.

Lucy and her siblings were the children of Sicilian immigrants. Their mother was widowed at an early age. Consequently, Lucy demonstrated a strong work ethic and a generous spirit her entire adult life. She worked at Sibley’s, LM Berry and Monroe County.

Lucy was a longtime member of St. Rita’s parish in Webster, and sang in the Webster Senior Singers. She exercised daily in the pool at the YMCA until last year. Since moving to the Baywinde community a few years ago, she became active in the daily life there – she loved playing cards, making handcrafted items, and she served on the Residents Council, and enjoyed being an ambassador for new residents.

Faith and family were her foundations. Lucy never missed a Sunday mass, and her passion was family – her children and her large extended family gave her great joy. She loved nothing more than being at the center of a family gathering, making sure that everybody enjoyed themselves, and had plenty to eat.

Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, Dec. 27, at St Rita’s Church. The Mass will be streamed live on St Rita’s website https://www.saintritawebster.org . No calling hours. Private Entombment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to St. Rita’s School Scholarship Fund in her memory.
