ROCHESTER, NY: Phil went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 2, 2021 at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his father, John Sampognaro. Survived by his sons, John and James, mother, Maria, brother, Joseph (Laurie), nephew, Eric, and loving companion, Cindy Tambe. Phil is also survived by many caring friends and family members including aunts, uncles and cousins.
Phil was known professionally as Phil Naro. He was a spectacular singer and performer with a powerful, distinctive voice. He left us with an extraordinary amount of music which will allow his artistic legacy to live on forever. He fought a valiant battle to the end, and we thank him for sharing his life, love, friendship and talent with the world.
A celebration of Phil’s life will take place this Friday, May 7th at 1:30pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 43 Gebhardt Road, Penfield, NY 14526. Face coverings and social distancing protocols are required. The service will be live streamed at www.holyspirit-saintjoseph.org/online-ministries
