Obituary for Santo P. "Sonny" Amedeo

Webster: Sunday, September 18th, 2022 at the age of 89. Predeceased by his parents, Philip and Gilda (Polito) Amedeo; sisters, Rose Marie Harris, Gloria Chichelli and Marlene Cawley. Survived by devoted wife of 65 years, Patricia (Schimmel) Amedeo; sons, Brad (Mary Stephany Veltz), Scot (Diane), Douglas (Linda Paola) and Philip (Cheryl Pavia); grandchildren, Alexis, Lauren, Kyle, Rainna and Roxy; special brother-in-law, Bernie Schimmel; and many nieces and nephews.

Sonny served as a medic in the US Army during the Korean conflict. His career was varied, ultimately retiring as an electrician. During his youth he bowled many a 700 series. Later taking up golf, baseball in the over 70 league and watercolor art. He loved his family with great passion and was very proud of his sons. One of his favorite restaurants was The Bayfront where he greeted his many friends from his personal booth. According to his wishes, his body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Program, University of Rochester Medical School for medical research. A special thanks to nurses, Aimee, Alicia and Irene whom he came to love.

Friends are welcome Wednesday, September 21st from 4-7pm at the Profetta Funeral Chapel 1650 Empire Blvd. Sonny's Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 22nd, 11am at St. Paul's Church 783 Hard Rd. Donations in Sonny's memory may be sent to the Heritage Christian Services Foundation Inc.
