Penfield, NY. Died January 3, 2020 at age 82 after a long illness.
Predeceased by her parents, Donald and Teresa Kerwin; brother, Donald, Jr. Terry is survived by her brother, Richard Kerwin; daughters Carol and Margaret Lehr; son Matthew Lehr; granddaughter Greta; sister-in-law Annabelle Kerwin, nieces Ann (Paul) Kolakowski, Teresa Mezil, Mary (Alvin) Reed, Ruth (William) Varner; nephews Donald (Heidi) Kerwin and Peter (Holly) Kerwin.
Terry is a graduate of St. Mary's School, Cortland, NY, the former SUNY College of Education at Albany (now the University at Albany), and SUNY Brockport. She was a member of the Chi Sigma Theta sorority.
Terry began her professional career as a junior high school English teacher for the East Irondequoit school district and ended as an English instructor at SUNY Brockport. In between she served as a school librarian, handmade craftsperson, parochial school English teacher, museum curator, and archivist. She was an avid local history researcher and writer who wrote organizational histories for Christ Church, the Rochester Academy of Medicine, Rochester General Hospital, and St. John's Home; fictional histories involving the Eastman Dental Dispensary and the 1918 influenza pandemic's effects on Rochester; and an edited collection of a Civil War officer's letters back home to his wife. She never truly retired from lecturing, writing, editing, and proofreading.
A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at St. Joseph's Church, Penfield at a future date. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be sent to the Rochester Medical Museum and Archives at http://rrhgive.org.
