Obituary for Victoria Nania

Victoria passed away peacefully at Rochester General Hospital on Wednesday December 22, 2021 surrounded by her children. She was born July 6, 1932 in Rochester, NY to the late Joseph Rivellino and Immaculate Crispo. Following high school Vicky began working at Skips Meat Market where she met the love of her life, John. They soon married and built a home in Penfield where they would raise their four children. Initially Vicky’s life was centered around creating a loving home for her family when in 1969 she partnered with John and ran the Ellison Landing Market in Brighton. In the late 1970s she began a new career at Nalge Corp. as an assembler in the medical equipment and supply division.

She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed preparing meals for her extended family and friends. She threw many wonderful celebrations over the years and was a joyful and generous hostess. Her homemade sauce, lasagna, chicken soup and lemon meringue pie were legendary. Vicky and John were fortunate to establish many friendships that would last throughout their lifetimes and enjoyed live swing music and dancing. On weekends they would regularly be found dressing up and going out for an evening of dining and dancing at clubs around Rochester.

Predeceased in death by her devoted husband of 68 years John, Sr.; her parents; her brothers, Louis and Aldo Rivellino; and her sister, Marie Bender. Victoria is survived by her brother Alfonso (Eleanor) Rivellino and sister Kathleen (Joseph) Driffle; her loving children Donald (Sharon), John, Jr., David, and Mary (Don) Schoch. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren Jeffrey (Cristina), Michael (Shelly), Stephanie, Michelle, Anthony and Diana and many nieces and nephews.

She was a bright light in all our lives and will be greatly missed. She was fortunate to remain in her home throughout her battle with liver disease thanks to the compassionate care of her sons John, Jr. and David. We are grateful for the services of Home Instead over the past two years.

Vicky’s family and friends are welcome Monday, December 27th from 4-7:30 PM at Profetta Funeral Chapel, 1650 Empire Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 28th at 10:30 AM at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 1355 Hatch Rd., Webster followed by internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
